A new neotenous genus and species, Deltanthura palpus gen. et sp. nov. (Isopoda, Anthuroidea, Paranthuridae) from Japan, with a revised key to the genera in Paranthuridae

We describe a new paranthurid isopod genus and species, Deltanthura palpus gen. et sp. nov. , collected from depth of 805–852 m off the southern coast Mie prefecture, Japan. is similar to Pseudanthura Richardson, 1911 in having triangular pleotelson, acute mandible with 3-articulate palp, maxillipedal endite, tapering uropodal exopod, but differs eyes neotenous characters (reduced pereonite 7 pereopods lacking). four genera ( Califanthura Schultz, 1977, Colanthura 1902, Cruranthura Thomson, 1946, Cruregens Chilton, 1882) share characters, acute, palp endites are present. minuta Kensley & Heard, 1991 may belong as they pleotelson we refrain transferring it its description lacks other diagnostic . provide revised key all Paranthuridae Menzies Glynn, 1968.
